1. Some of my favorite tools used would have to be the Glogster, Photostory, and many of the Google tools. I love the idea of having new and creative routes to old fashioned projects. Also, any way of staying connected and sharing news and current science events is great when having so much technology in the classroom.
2. I am definitly going to be using some of these tools in my classroom this year. I can only anticipate the excitement that my 6th graders will have when exploring and sharing their ideas on the computer. I think it will allow many students who may mot be so inclined to speaking and sharing in the classroom, an opportunity to carry out amazing things through alternative outlets.
3. Overall I think everything is going to be very useful in sharing information, posting thoughts, and carrying out ideas. I guess by becoming exposed to many of them only I will know whats best for my classroom. My only other fear is that students themselves will become overwhelmed in using these different tools and confusion among the different sites, classes, assignments, and especially usernames/passwords would amount.

Tool #11 !!!!!!!!!!!
I would want to stress many points about digital literacy but if I had to narrow it down to 3 main points they would be:
1. the capability to use digital technology and knowing when and how to use it
2. the precautions that all technology users must take to guarantee their personal safety and the security of their network
3. the privileges and freedoms extended to all digital technology users, and the behavioural expectations that come with them
I have seen it in the news and media all too often about cyber bullying and the affects they can have on people. 6th graders are all too naive and perhaps by showing them some brief documentaries of these might be helpful. Using digital technology is also a priviledge. By signing digial use contracts, much as science safety contracts, I think students will take a more personal responsibilty towards computer use.

Tool #10!!!!!!!!!!
I was never quite sure the benefits of using an Itouch in schools but it seems as if there are some pretty cool resources out there for them. I could definitly see the ease of reearching quick topics but there are some other cool apps for use as well.
Such as:
Planets App: Provides lots of interesting information:
•location of the sun, moon, and planets in the sky
•maps of stars and constellations
•rise and set time of the sun, moon, and planets
•current and future moon phases
•3D globe view of all planets and the moon
•facts sheet for each planet, including moon names
NASA - dynamically updated information, images and videos from various online NASA sources. Users can access NASA countdown clocks, the NASA Image of the Day, Astronomy Image of the Day, online videos
These apps would definitly be fun additions to the classroom but not really made for long term research or projects.

Tool # 9!!!!!!!!!
I love using Skype and would love to use it more in the classroom. I like the idea of using it to record classroom presentations and it would open up the doors to more creative ideas and projects. I have never thought about Skyping with other classrooms but it could be an educational and motivating project for students.
I have never used Jing before but in all it seems to be a useful way for students to communicate with each other. It could also be useful for students who are out for long periods of time and you could just record your lessons on it for them to easliy access.

Tool #8
This first video I found was on Floods. It is a short piece, but they also had other videos about different kinds of natural disasters. I think by having students watch some of these and then possibly write reflections about them, students would be able to work at their own pace rather than watching them as a whole class.
This second video is one about robots and how they are changing society today. Another way to utilize videos in the classroom is to have optional videos to watch at the end of an assignment. I think it would be helpful to see more in depth into a subject if time allows and it may open up more interest for students. It is rare when students really get to explore more into a subject than just the days assignment. I think it could become very motivating and educational.
Tool #7 !!!!!!!
Since I am not on my district laptop my photostory will have to be postponed until a later time. :) Hopefully I will be able to come back and edit this post.
