Tool #2!!

1. By building a PLN it will allow students to become more independent and really take control of their learning. Kids are already engaged in networking and learning through other social networks, so why not take advantage of this new "craze" and have them more self determined, and self motivated learners in the classroom and even outside of the classroom.

2. One of the things about commenting that stood out to me was the "Teach Commenting" section. Students love to get comments back on their papers and classwork, so why not on their blogs. Makes sense. I loved the comment from the students expressing how excited he gets to see comments and it makes him want to write back. This is something that I will certainly try to incorporate into my PLN and classroom.

3. Some of the blogs that I am following are:

Wegs Online
Amy's House
E1even Too1s
Ms. Lee's Thoughts
Blithe Blog

  1. an authentic audience that responds back! Yes we and students both appreciate the effort. I think you are very right when you talk about adapting something that students are doing outside of the classroom with such enthusiasm...capture some of the energy inside the school walls!

  2. When I read your post, you made me think about students taking control of their learning & becoming more independent via blogs. I really hadn't thought of blogs as a way for students to take control of their learning. I see this as good but also as scary because I will have to release some control. But I do have to join them and peak their interests. Blogs (the internet in general) are becoming a larger and larger part of their lives.

  3. I love your set-up on your blog. It is very eye catching. I know you will have fun learning all of the ways that you can engage your students with technology. This is the wave o the future as our kids today are internet babies. Gook luck with the 11 tools.

  4. I agree about the "Teaching to Comment" section but I also think that students should know how to comment so that their comments are meaningful and constructive. I think commenting on social networks and commenting on a blog specifically set up for a classroom should be different.

  6. I guess the LA teachers will now have to do some CCP lessons on blog comments. With modeling and practice, students will learn to use this tool successfully.

  7. Yes, I completely agree. Students are motivated through technology and I think that blogging is a great way to get students excited about learning. I also look forward to commenting on students blogs to create more of a learning community in the classroom,
